Oldham Athletic All As One - Girls & Women’s Team Join Oldham Athletic Family

3 February 2018

Girls football in Oldham is set to benefit from a new partnership as Oldham Athletic Football Club, Oldham Athletic Community Trust and Oldham Athletic Girls & Women Football Club are proud to announce a brand new relationship.

Commencing for the 2018-2019 season, the Girls & Women Football Club will once again officially represent Oldham Athletic Football Club for the first time in several years.

Mark Moisley, Oldham Athletic Chief Executive commented: “We are delighted that the club will once again be officially represented in Girls and Women’s Football. We would like to thank Alan Coombes and his team of volunteers, along with Martin Vose and his team at our Community Trust, for working hard to bring this to fruition. We look forward to a long and hopefully successful partnership.”

The relationship will have huge benefits for women and girls football across Oldham. With Oldham Athletic Community Trust delivering projects such as the Premier League Women & Girls project as well as their extensive schools programme to thousands of children per week, the new partnership will offer increased opportunities for girls to access competitive football and ensure that the boroughs only professional football club is at the heart of women & girls football for years to come.

Alan Coombes, Oldham Athletic Girls & Women Chairperson added: “Oldham Athletic Girls & Women FC was founded in 2004 and this partnership is another positive part of our proud history. We are open to girls of all abilities from the age of six to 16 years at this present time but we are looking to move forward and gain teams in all age groups including women’s open age. Our aim is to grow and develop girls into the women’s game and to grow as a community club and this partnership will enable us to achieve our objective.”

Martin Vose, OACT Community Manager added: “This is a fantastic partnership and comes after much hard work by all parties. There is a real commitment from Oldham Athletic Football Club and ourselves to support the development of women’s football in the coming years and this partnership is testament to this. The partnership, complimented by our community delivery, will have a huge positive impact for women’s football across Oldham.”

To celebrate the partnership, Oldham Athletic have invited the entire Oldham Athletic Girls & Women club to today’s game and they will be bucket collecting this afternoon so please give generously.
