Gerrard Believes Latics Have Turned A Corner

14 February 2018

Oldham Athletic defender Anthony Gerrard believes the team have turned a corner following a number of positive results.

Latics are unbeaten in their last three matches, winning against Bradford City and MK Dons as well as drawing away at Blackburn Rovers.

Gerrard scored the only goal of the game to claim all three points against MK Dons last night.

“It wasn’t pretty,” he said speaking about the game.

“Overall a clean sheet and a goal; if that was on fantasy football I’d be getting 12 points!

“The way my luck has been, if I go to the near post the ball goes to the back post and if I go to the back post the ball goes to the near post.

“It just about trying to stay on your toes and anticipate where the ball is going to drop.

“Luckily enough I got a yard on the lad an managed to flick it in.”

The recent turn of form has seen the side move up the table to 19th, out of the relegation zone.

The win over MK Dons was even more significant with other results going Latics’ way.

“We can’t concentrate on anyone else other than ourselves,” Gerrard said.

“I’ve been in this situation in the previous two season, this will be my third and I know what it takes.

“Last Saturday it would have been lovely to get the three points against Blackburn.

“Nine points would have been an absolutely fantastic return from the three games but as it goes seven points isn’t too bad.

“We have couple of days off now which is great but it’s all about the preparation for the next game.”
