Oldham Athletic are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Jack Byrne for an undisclosed fee, subject to his registration being cleared.
The midfielder has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Latics.
Byrne progressed through the youth ranks at Manchester City and enjoyed loan spells with Eredivisie side Cambuur and Blackburn Rovers.
The 21-year-old moved permanently to then-Championship side Wigan Athletic but found his opportunities limited.
Byrne, who has been capped by Republic of Ireland under 21s, joined Latics on loan in August and made an immediate impact scoring on his league debut against Charlton Athletic.
Overall he made 25 appearances and scored seven goals in a four-month spell.
He will continue to wear the number 29 shirt.
