Taylor Setting Sights High

19 July 2018

Oldham Athletic’s latest signing is setting his sights high for the upcoming campaign.

Andy Taylor has signed for the club on a one year-deal after a successful trial period.

The defender has featured in two of the club’s pre-season friendlies, taking part in the 1-3 win over Ashton United and the 0-2 win over FC United of Manchester.

Speaking to iFollow Latics, Taylor says he’s enjoyed the past couple of weeks.

“I think that the new manager and the new coaching staff are going about things very well,” he said.

“It suits me and my game down to the ground.

“The way that everyone is talking about how they want to play is what attracted me.

“I think we obviously want to try and get out of this league if possible. So the prospect of, hopefully, a promotion season is something that will excite any player, especially me.”

The 32-year-old has previously played for Sheffield United, Walsall and most recently Blackpool where he was part of their side that won promotion to League One in 2017.

“I’ve only done League Two once before, and that was at Blackpool,” he said.

“We were fortunate enough to be promoted that year, so this year I’m hopeful for that.

“I would love another trip to Wembley or a promotion chance this season, and that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
