Oldham Athletic striker Jonathan Benteke is feeling confident ahead of the upcoming season.
The Belgian has re-signed for the club on a one-year deal.
After impressing during a trial period, the 23-year-old is delighted to be back at Oldham permanently.
“I’m really happy,” he exclaimed.
“I wanted to be back and I’m very happy to be back at Oldham Athletic and I’m looking forward to the new season, hopefully everything will be good.”
The attacker has featured in every game so far in pre-season and has impressed during his time on trial.
“To be fair, it’s not easy to be on trial,” said Benteke.
“You have to do it and I think I had to show the manager my skills and my quality.
“I think everything was good and now I’m happy to sign and to start the new season.”
During pre-season, Benteke has scored against Ashton United, Nottingham Forest and Girona, helping to boost his confidence just in time for the new campaign.
“I feel good, he said.
“It’s important to score goals to help the team win games and I hope I will score again and again.
“I don’t like to set targets, I just want to take it game by game and give it 100%.”
The striker will wear the number 14 shirt during his time at the club and he’s looking forward to getting out on the pitch with his teammates.
“We have a good team, good squad, good guys and I hope we have a good season together,” he commented.
“Everything is good and we’ve played some great games, we’ve got a good family here so I hope we’ll start the season well.”
