O’Grady Believes His Experience Will Help The Squad

30 July 2018

Oldham Athletic’s latest signing is hoping his experience can be a big help during the upcoming season.

Chris O’Grady has signed for Latics on a one-year deal.

It’s his second stint and the club after first joining in 2008.

“It’s come full circle,” he commented.

“I was here at the start of my career and now I’m here again towards the end of it.

“I’m looking to enjoy my football and contribute to getting the club back to where they belong.”

The striker brings with him a wealth of experience, having played at all levels of the English Football League and winning promotion with Rochdale in 2009/10 and Sheffield Wednesday in 2011/12.

“I’ve seen plenty so hopefully I can help,” he explained.

“I’m hoping to bring anything I possibly can and help in any way I can whether that’s on the pitch or off the pitch with other players that haven’t been through this certain situation before.”

He has previously worked with Bunn during his time at Rochdale, when the Latics manager was assistant to Steve Eyre.

“It was nice for him to see something in me back then and bring me here now so I’m looking forward to my time working with him.” He said.

Looking ahead to the new season, which starts on Saturday against MK Dons, the striker can’t wait to get going.

“I’m excited,” he exclaimed.

“When I first came in it was a pretty strong squad but we’ve been gradually adding to it so it’s looking like a song squad for this league.

“I’ve seen this league quite a few times over the years and it’s going to take strength in depth and also experience.”

“There’s a good blend of that here and fingers crossed it will put us in good stead.”
