MATCH PREVIEW: Oldham Athletic vs. Preston North End

27 July 2018

Oldham Athletic host Championship side Preston North End at Boundary Park on Saturday, July 28, 3:00pm kick off.

The match is the final pre-season friendly before Frankie Bunn’s side kick off their Sky Bet League Two campaign.

So far, pre-season has been very positive with wins over Ashton United, Curzon Ashton, FC United of Manchester and La Liga outfit Girona.

Latics also drew with Nottingham Forrest last week at Boundary Park.

Forest took the lead early on but goals from Jonathan Benteke and George Edmundson put the team ahead until another Forest goal three minutes from time meant it would finish honours even.

Injuries have been an issue for Bunn over the past few weeks, Dan Gardner was forced off in the first half against Forest and didn’t feature against Girona, but the manager seemed confident it wasn’t anything too serious when speaking to iFollow Latics.

Latics’ latest signing Jonathan Benteke, who has signed a one year deal, will be looking to get on the score sheet again after having netted in three pre-season matches so far.

Saturday’s opposition narrowly missed out on a place in the Championship play-offs last season by two points and no doubt they will be motivated to go one further and claim a top-six place in their new campaign.

The Lilywhites go into the match off the back of two tough pre-season tests against Premier League opposition, drawing 2-2 against West Ham United and losing 2-3 to Burnley.

Most of the Preston squad have managed to play 90 minutes in their previous two games so there will be plenty of players looking to get in Alex Neil’s side for their final match ahead of the new Championship season.

Supporters are reminded that all admission is via payment on the turnstile.

Prices are as follows:
Adults: £10
