Club Remembers Legend, Gordon Lawton

14 June 2018

Today Oldham Athletic are remembering club legend, Gordon Lawton who sadly passed away a year ago.

At 10:00am all club staff will be observing a minutes silence along with members of Gordon’s family.

Gordon started at the club in 1986 setting up a lottery in the commercial department before holding a number of positions at the club including programme editor, club commentator, media manager and football secretary.

Known to many as 'the voice of Oldham Athletic,' Gordon was a familiar face to all visitors at Boundary Park.

His witty charm would immediately welcome members of the press from up and down the country, setting the tone for the warm family welcome the club has on a matchday because of him.

After 23 years of unique and amusing commentary he hung up his microphone to concentrate fully on his role as football secretary.

He will be forever remembered by everyone at the club as a legend, one in a million and the heart and soul of Oldham Athletic.

Rest in peace, Gordy.
