McLaughlin Earns Another Northern Ireland Cap

4 June 2018

Oldham Athletic’s Ryan McLaughlin gained another international cap yesterday as he featured as a substitute in Northern Ireland’s friendly with World Cup bound Costa Rica.

The 23-year-old came on in the 60th minute along with his brother Conor McLaughlin.

It was a historical moment in San Jose for Northern Ireland as it was the first time two sets of brothers were playing in the team simultaneously, with Ryan and Conor joining Jonny and Corry Evans who were already on the pitch.

The South American side, who will take on Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia in group E at this month’s FIFA World Cup in Russia won 3-0.

It was the final match in Northern Ireland’s South American tour, next up for them is Bosnia and Herzegovina in Belfast on September 8 in the first of four Uefa Nations Cup matches.
