Oldham Athletic midfielder Dan Gardner has won the Community Trust award for the 2017/18 season.

The midfielder been presented with his award which recognises work away from the football pitch.

Gardner has regularly visited schools across Oldham as well as took part in many projects ran by the Community Trust.

Wendy Noble, Operations Manager, said: “This award recognises the player whose involvement in the community has gone over and above what would normally be expected, either due to the breadth of involvement in community programmes or due to the depth of support for one particular project or activity.

“Dan Gardner is a worthy winner not only for attending the majority of the player visits this season, but for his work with our Jigsaw project and to also back our Autism awareness day on 2nd April.

Gardner added: “It’s an honour to be awarded the Community Trust award for this season.

“I’m always keen to get out into the community and help out the best I can. I enjoy doing the school visits and getting involved with the projects close to my heart.”
