MATCH PREVIEW: Northampton Town vs. Oldham Athle

4 May 2018

Oldham Athletic face Northampton Town in the final day of the Sky Bet League One season knowing a win will keep Latics in the division for another season.

Latics sit one point ahead of local rivals Rochdale and should Latics match or better their result tomorrow afternoon, they will stay up.

Richie Wellens will have one eye on Rochdale’s clash against Charlton Athletic tomorrow, whom also need a point to secure their position in the play-off places.

Wilfried Moimbe will come back into the squad after serving his four game suspension for his sending off against Gillingham.

Cameron Dummigan could return to the squad after a groin injury but he is rated 50/50 for the game.

Northampton Town head into the game having been all but relegated last weekend following a 1-0 defeat against Walsall.

The Cobblers are 22nd in Sky Bet League One and sit on 46 points from their 45 games.

They need a 17 goal swing to potentially steer clear of relegation and hope that Rochdale lose on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the game, manager Richie Wellens said: “I don’t want my players looking at me and seeing someone who is nervous or uptight because I don’t think it will help them.

“As long as I know in my mind that the preparation that we have done is right, we need to make sure we play at full pelt and exploit Northampton’s weaknesses, as long as I do that and we are organised, I can be fine about what I’ve done.

“We need to make sure the players react to the situation and get a positive result to get what we need.

“We know what we’ve got to do. We will take a fantastic support down to Northampton and hopefully we will get the win that we need to play League One football next season.”

Oldham Athletic have been priced at 19/20 to claim the three points tomorrow afternoon whilst the home win is priced at 14/5.
