MATCH PREVIEW: Hampton & Richmond Borough vs. Oldham Athletic

12 November 2018

Oldham Athletic travel to Hampton & Richmond Borough tonight in the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup (7:45pm).

This will be the first time the teams have ever faced each other.

Frankie Bunn’s men come into the game after a 0-0 draw with Notts County on Tuesday night, a game in which Oldham probably should have won.

Despite Hampton & Richmond Borough being two tiers below Latics, Bunn is not taking this game lightly and says his team need to be at their best to get through the tie.

“It's up to the players to blank everything out and think about themselves and the team, it's one you've got to be mentally tough with.” He said.

“Whenever you go to teams below you in the leagues, it's about the mental approach that the players must be aware of.

“We all know why the cameras are there, they're not there to watch Oldham specifically, they're there for an upset and hopefully we can negate that and come through with a positive result.”

Bunn confirmed that striker Sam Surridge will still be unavailable as well as Ousmane Fane and Zeus De La Paz on the treatment table.

Hampton & Richmond Borough come into the tie without a win in their last five league games which includes four defeats in that run.

They qualified for the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup after beating Eastleigh 1-0 thanks to a goal from top scorer Chris Dickson.

Dickson has scored 11 goals in 18 appearances for the club so far this season and will be the main threat going forward for Monday’s hosts.

Oldham Athletic are priced at 8/11 to beat Hampton & Richmond Borough on Monday.

The game will be live on BT Sport with Peter Drury as commentator.

Unfortunately, iFollow Latics regulars Sam Rosbottom and Roy Butterworth will not be on commentary for iFollow due to restrictions at Hampton & Richmond Borough.
