Latics Youth Make It Seven Unbeaten With Emphatic Win

12 November 2018

Oldham Athletic’s youth team continued their fine form in recent weeks with a thumping win over Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

Latics’ youngsters netted five without reply thanks to goals from Ryan Pickford, Sam Amankwaa, Jack Williams and a Max Norman brace.

Interim Academy Manager Pete Wild was once again a happy man after seeing his side put in a strong performance on Saturday.

“I was very pleased with the performance on Saturday, we played them a few weeks ago and we were frustrated because we felt we were the better side that, but to go and score five with the variety of goals we produced and the way we played was really pleasing.” He said.

“The players are playing with a lot of confidence, Chris (Millington) and I are really happy with the way they all apply what we do in training into the games.

“You can see our style of play and the structure within the side which is just as important as the results.”

Next up for the youth team is a trip to Sunderland in the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup on Thursday night as they look to continue the unbeaten run and progress into the next round of the competition.
