Round One of the OACT Kids Cup competition is now complete with eight local schools from the Oldham borough having progressed to the final’s day.
The eight schools are: East Crompton St James, St Josephs, South Failsworth, ALT, Friezland, Greenfield, Hodge Clough & Yew Tree.
In total the competition saw 32 local schools take part, with over 250 children participating.
It has been a record year for the event with the competition seeing the highest number of female players taking part.
Martin Vose, OACT Head of Community commented: “The EFL Kids Cup is a prestigious event in the Oldham schools’ calendar, it offers schools & children the once in a lifetime opportunity of playing at Wembley Stadium. This year we have been blown away by the talent on show on the pitch and the attitude and behaviour off it.
“The EFL Kids Cup is the first of many planned events that we have pencilled in across the year for schools to take part it as we aim to expand our competitions calendar.
“Thank you to every school that entered this year and good luck to the remaining eight schools who will take part in our Kids Cup Finals Day.”
