The N Brown Group Team Of The Week returns this evening as Oldham Athletic Community Trust welcome students from Thornham St James Primary School to the rearranged fixture at Boundary Park.
Thornham St. James is a voluntary controlled school in Royton. It is characterised by its positive and Christian ethos with high expectations for all. Everyone works together to provide a happy, safe, productive environment in which all pupils are encouraged to ‘aim high’ and achieve the best they can in everything they do.
The school provides a rich, broad, relevant curriculum and experiences that contribute to good learning and achievement, and each child is given opportunities to learn and develop their individual skills and talents.
At Thornham St. James the 6Rs of reasoning, reflection, resourcefulness, respect, resilience and responsibility are woven through the Christian ethos of the school with the aim of our pupils becoming not only effective learners, but also thoughtful, independent, resilient, caring, respectful members of society.
Thornham St James has particularly strong traditions in both music and sport. We have won several awards for both our choir and the orchestra over the years. Last year we won the Harold Tindale Memorial Trophy for outstanding contribution to music at the Oldham Music Festival. Our school also offers plenty of opportunities in sport to every year group and competes regularly against other schools. In 2018 we won our local football league and were Oldham Cross Country Champions for the first time. What a year!
The links we have with OACT helps us to further enhance the opportunities and experiences for our pupils. As a partner, our pupils have benefited from weekly after school football sessions, have had the opportunity to meet professional footballers and been invited to watch Latics in matches at Boundary Park.
