Latics Achieve Family Excellence Status Again

26 April 2019

With an overall result of 8.0, Oldham Athletic have been awarded the EFL's highly coveted benchmark for fan engagement.

A total of 63 EFL Clubs have achieved Family Excellence status, nine of which have been crowned as ‘Gold Award’ winners for their remarkable work in engaging families on matchdays.

The record-breaking number, up from 56 Clubs in 2017/18, recognises continuous improvement and best practice in family engagement across the leagues and supports Clubs’ efforts to attract and retain young fans of the future.

EFL Clubs received two ‘mystery family’ visits throughout the 2018/19 season, with their feedback and reports determining whether each respective Club would achieve ‘Family Excellence’ status.

Working closely with OACT (the Oldham Athletic Community Trust) Boundary Park has a track record of family excellence history achieving the award nine times, with the last four years being consecutively.

The assessment summary for this season stated:

"As the trajectory of the past few seasons has shown, Oldham Athletic has worked very hard to achieve and maintain their status as a Family Excellence club. This year shows them consolidating with the 'real family' visitor regarding their dedication and commitment to being family-friendly as their greatest strength."

In the rankings, Oldham are ninth in League Two for the award and 27th overall in the EFL, improving on last year's results in all areas from first impressions to staff engagement.

Both the club and OACT have plans in place to further improve the experience at Boundary Park going to into next season, both in person when visiting and online before and after making the journey.
