New signing Tomas Egert is pleased to have signed for Latics and can’t wait to get back on the pitch.
The centre-back has felt welcomed since arriving at the club and is excited to get started.
“I’m delighted to be here. Since I have arrived at the club, everybody has been nice to me and I’m very happy to be here.” He said.
“Everyone around the club has been brilliant with me, all of the staff, the gaffer and the owner. There is a great bunch of players here, I’ve enjoyed it so far it’s been very good.”
Egert didn’t travel to Morocco with the rest of the squad for our pre-season tour because of injury.
“I’m getting back from an ACL injury, the deal was that it was better that I stay here in England to make sure I can recover better and to become fully fit as fast as I can.” He commented.
The 25-year-old is close to returning from injury and is eager to get back in action.
“I’m not far from being back in training, I am closer I’m taking it step by step, I think it will take a couple more weeks and I’ll be ready.
“I can’t wait to be back on the pitch, hopefully very soon but I need to be patient because it’s not an easy injury to come back from.”
He has been impressed by the Head Coach Laurent Banide and believes he wants his side to play some good football.
“He’s working professionally, we’re training with the ball, which is most important, he wants to play nice football for the fans, I think it will work and it’s looking good so far.”
Egert is confident that he can offer a lot to the team and is willing to give his all for the club.
“I will try and do my best; I will bring some physicality and I want to help the guys play from the back, not just kicking the ball long.
“Hopefully I will help get some clean sheets and some good wins, I will be fighting for the team, the fans and the club and I can’t wait to be back on the pitch to help the team and the club.”
