The club can confirm that David Wheater is the new Club Captain and will wear the armband for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.
Following his arrival at the start of the month and impressive performances either side of his short time out with injury, the defender will now continue his role as Club Captain after taking the responsibility in the games against Exeter City and Cambridge United last week.
On the announcement as Latics Captain, Wheater said; "It's an honour to be given the captaincy and as a senior professional I'll continue to give my all to the club and help my teammates as I have done since I joined."
