MATCH PREVIEW: Bury vs. Oldham Athletic

22 February 2019

Oldham Athletic make the short trip to local rivals Bury tomorrow in the Sky Bet League Two fixture as Paul Scholes faces his first away game in charge of Latics.

Scholes will be looking for his side to bounce back from the past two games, but he knows it’ll be a tough task against the Shakers.

“It's just about recovering from that, we've conceded a couple of late goals in the past two games which were disappointing.” He said.

“It could have been different, but it wasn't and now we've got a tough game Saturday to move on from the defeat.

“Bury are a tough team, they're probably one of the best in the league and our concentration has to be there otherwise we won't get anything out of the game.”

Latics may be without Tom Hamer and Callum Lang who are still both doubts whilst Dan Gardner and Ousmane Fane are still long-term injuries.

Scholes also confirmed that Oladapo Afolayan will be in the squad, but Alex Iacovitti is still a few weeks away from being involved.

Our opponents for Saturday currently sit second in the table, two points behind the league leaders Lincoln City.

They have scored the most goals in the league this season which shows their threat in front of goal.

Scott Wharton came off at half-time at the weekend with a groin strain, so he could be a doubt for tomorrow’s game.

In the reverse fixture, Latics ran out 4-2 winners with Chris O’Grady bagging himself a hat-trick and Sam Surridge grabbing the other goal.

Latics last won at Gigg Lane in August 2016 in a 0-1 victory thanks to a goal from Leon Barnett own goal.

With Oldham priced at 3/1 to beat Bury tomorrow.

Michael Brown and Roy Butterworth will be on commentary on iFollow Latics for supporters who cannot make the game.
