SIGNING: Latics Sign Sylla

5 January 2019

Oldham Athletic have signed midfielder Mohamed Sylla on a one-and-a-half-year contract.

The French midfielder has been a the club for a week and has now penned a deal with the club.

The 25-year-old previously played for French club Entente SSG in the Championnat National, making 42 appearances for them.

Speaking about the move to England, Sylla said: “I’m very pleased to be here and I hope to perform at my best for this club.”

“I’ve been around the club for a week now and I’ve been impressed by the fans from the game I watched against Notts County.” He added.

“They’re really passionate in their support and I can’t wait to get out there to show everybody what I can do.

“I like to be a shield in front of the defence, but I also like the role of going box-to-box, so hopefully I can contribute at both ends of the pitch.”

It will be his first taste of English football and when asked if he is looking forward to the challenge of life in Sky Bet League Two he said: “I am ready.”

“It’s a strong physical league, I have to make sure I’m fit and raring to go and as soon as I get on the pitch you’ll see that I can cope with the demands of English football.”

He will wear the number 42 and he is available to play in tomorrow’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round match against Fulham.

Welcome to Oldham, Mohamed!
