Latics & Rochdale To Compete For The Ernie Cooksey Trophy

11 July 2019

Oldham Athletic and Rochdale will compete for the Ernie Cooksey Trophy in next weekend’s pre-season friendly between the two teams at Boundary Park.

Historically, this pre-season fixture has seen the two sides go head-to-head to be crowned winners of the Rose Bowl, but we are delighted to reveal that this year’s match will pay tribute to the late, great Ernie Cooksey.

This has been made been made possible thanks to the Trust Oldham and the Dale Trust who put the idea forward to each respective Club, with both Trusts agreeing to fund the new trophy.

Ernie was treated for skin cancer in 2006 but suffered a reoccurrence two years later and sadly passed away in the summer of 2008.

He made 40 appearances for Latics during his time at Boundary Park before moving onto Rochdale for three years between 2004 and 2007.

Should the match finish all square, the trophy will be decided by a penalty shoot-out.

Admission prices for the game are as follows:

Adults - £10;
Concessions - £5;
Under-18s - £1.

Fans can pay on the day via cash turnstiles. Should you wish to pay by card, please visit the Boundary Park Ticket Office before going to the turnstiles.

Please note that the Joe Royle Stand will not be open for the fixture.
