Thank You, George!

21 June 2019

Oldham Athletic can confirm that George Edmundson has left the club to join Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

The young defender is a product of the Latics' academy and became a real fans favourite during his time at Boundary Park.

Prior to breaking into the first team, Edmundson enjoyed loan spells at Ramsbottom United, Alfreton Town and AFC Fylde.

Following these loans, he got his opportunity in the first team in 2018, where he made 13 appearances. Showing great promise and vital defensive qualities he netted his first senior goal away at Northampton Town in 2018.

Last season, the 21 year-old made a name for himself making 54 appearances in all competitions for Oldham and proudly wore the captains’ armband away at MK Dons.

He was named in the official EFL League Two Team of the Year for the 2018/19 season.

Alongside this George won the Oldham Athletic Community Trust Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards to cap off a breakthrough campaign for his own personal development.

Overall, Edmundson made 79 appearances and scored three goals for the club and will always be welcomed back to Boundary Park with open arms.

Everyone connected with Oldham Athletic would like to thank George for his services and wish him the very best during his time in Scotland and for the future.
