New signing Zak Mills sat down to give his thoughts upon his arrival at the club and his aims for next season.
Putting pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with Latics, the defender is looking forward to getting started at Boundary Park.
"I'm just excited to be here really, I know about the club from playing against them previously and just want to get going, get my boots on and get the season started.
"I had a fair bit of interest this summer, but what stood out for me was when I played against the club last season on a Tuesday evening, the fan base and the atmosphere I just remember leaving the ground, although we won, thinking this is the sort of club I would like to be at. Then when the interest came through, it was too hard to turn it down from a club of this size and its potential."
The 27 year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign with Morecambe last season, and described what Latics fans can expect from him.
"I’ve done okay recently, I’m a full-back and can play centre-half but can also do a job in midfield. But, predominantly I'm a defender. Strong, like to defend, good in the air, athletic. I also like to get forward so I'm sort of an all rounder.
He added: "I want to stay fit and healthy and my main aim is to have a positive season, but as a team and a group I always want to win, I want to win every game and I compete like that.
"I know the last couple of years the club hasn’t been going to plan and ideally we could swing that around this year and start to be part of something positive. Whether that’s promotion or the play-offs."
The versatile defender is also looking forward to working with the new Head Coach, Laurent Banide.
"Yeah, I’ve read about him, I’ve not met him yet, but I do know about him and I know he knows about me already.
"It’ll be an experience being under a foreign Head Coach, something I've never done before but I’m always up for a challenge. So it’ll be a new experience for me and it’s something I’m looking forward to."
His final message before reporting back for pre-season training was a simple one;
"I’m looking forward to playing for Oldham, I’ll graft and I’ll put in a lot of hard work for the shirt and the club. So hopefully we have a positive season together."
