INTERNATIONAL LATICS: Curacao Qualify For Knockout Stages

26 June 2019

Oldham Athletic winger Gevaro Nepomuceno helped his Curacao side make even more history in the Gold Cup in the early hours of this morning.

The Carribean nation qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition in dramatic fashion.

Gevaro played the full game against Jamaica, whilst Zeus De la Paz was once again an unused substitute, as Curacao scored a fantastic last minute equalisier to grab a valuable point to keep their hopes of continuing in the competition alive that bit longer.

Shortly after in Los Angeles, Honduras restored some pride beating El Salvador 4-0, which meant the Curaçaoans were the ones to leap frog the beaten side into second position.

The final Group C match ensured Curacao finished behind Jamaica by a point and in front of El Salvador on goal difference and as a result will now play the winners of Group D which could be either the USA or Panama dependent on their result later on.

The quarter-final will take place on Monday 1 July, with a 1am kick-off at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Good luck, Gevaro and Zeus!
