VISIT: Thornham St James Primary School

15 March 2019

Thornham St James Primary School were joined by Latics players Rob Hunt and Sonhy Sefil this week.

Oldham Athletic defenders Rob Hunt and Sonhy Sefil visited Thornham St James Primary School, as the school prepares for their 'Play On The Pitch' appearance this Saturday at Boundary Park.

Children from the school will be at the ground when Oldham welcome Tranmere at the weekend, with selected pupils playing on the Boundary Park pitch at half-time.

Rob and Sonhy took time after training to make the short journey to meet some of the pupils who will be playing and to offer some advice ahead of their big occasion.

In addition, the pair visited different classes helping the children to understand the importance of physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. With KS2 classes currently studying French as part of their work, Sonhy was on hand to test out the children’s knowledge, answering some of the childrens questions in French.

The visit to Thornham St James, an Oldham Athletic Community Trust (OACT) school partner, was part of the Community Trust's schools programme which sees OACT coaches working within the school on a weekly basis delivering a variety of different lessons.

Currently OACT has 18 local school partners, for more information on the work that they do within local schools or to become a school partner, please email Martin.Vose@oldhamathletic.co.uk.
