Latics Also Link With Spoons Charity

15 November 2019

Oldham Athletic is delighted to announce the final charity partner for the 2019/20 season.

Alongside Maggie’s Oldham, Homeless Friendly and the Oldham Athletic Community Trust, Spoons are another local charity that the club are proud to be working with to help raise awareness of the work they do to a wider audience.

Spoons was established following personal experiences of neonatal care. Their primary focus is on supporting the whole family, practically and emotionally from admission to the neonatal unit and beyond, allowing NHS colleagues to concentrate on the provision of clinical care.

The charity offers a range of support services for families to access on the neonatal units and within the community at both The Royal Oldham Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital.

Kirsten Mitchell the founder of the Charity said; "We are delighted to be one of Oldham Athletic's charity partners for the rest of season and are looking forward to working with Natalie and her team.

"It is a really good opportunity for Spoons to engage more with our local community through the partnership and raise awareness of the challenges facing families in neonatal care. We are really excited about the next few months."

On the new link, Natalie Atkinson Managing Director of the club is pleased to finally get the last charity partner in place; "This is the final piece of the jigsaw of charty partners that we will work with.

"I visited the neonatal unit and was inspired by the care that the babies and their families receive whilst there and then following leaving the unit.

"Kirsten is an inspiration and so passionate about supporting families that we couldn’t not be involved. Over the course of the rest of the season we will be involved in a number of initiatives with Spoons to raise the profile of the services they offer."
