New Lighting Rig

2 October 2019

Following on from the help provided by Oldham College last season, the Grounds Team are pleased to announce that a new lighting rig has been acquired at Boundary Park.

Working closely with the owner to help rectify pitch issues, the rig has been provided by SGL on a lease-to-buy option and will help tackle the long-term issue of the lack of grass coverage under the Main Stand due to the shade from the roof.

The rig, which can be used anywhere on the pitch, consists of twelve 1000W bulbs, covering 50sqm and is incorporated into the project work regarding the fertiliser and nutrition of the Boundary Park surface which is approximately 7,500sqm in size.

The artificial lights will put strength back into the plant when there is a lack of sunlight in the coming months during winter.

On the new piece of equipment, Head Groundsman Paul Flynn said; "This is a massive step forward for the club and my team in regards to the long-term pitch improvement that we have set out to achieve.

"We will be situating the rig up and down the Main Stand side predominantly with 24-48 hour treatment areas covering a 50 square meter area each time.

"I'd like to thank the board and management staff for their continued support so far this season."
