Latics were condemned to their first defeat in the Leasing.com Trophy this season as goals from Sadou Diallo, Offrande Zanzala and Jordan Clark sealed the win for Accrington Stanley at Boundary Park.
Oldham started the game brightly and nearly took the lead after just four minutes as Jonny Smith delivered a corner into the box and it was met by the head of Jamie Stott, but his powerful header was saved by Toby Savin.
Later on, Christopher Missilou was brought down outside the area and Smith tried his luck but was denied by the Accrington Stanley goalkeeper. Although, he could only palm it as far as Alex Iacovitti and his cross nearly snuck in at the back post.

Just before half-time, Dino Maamria’s side were reduced to ten after Dylan Fage received a straight red card for a challenge on a Stanley player.
After the restart, Zabret produced a smart save to deny Diallo from close range before the Latics defence managed to clear the danger.
Oldham came close to pulling a goal back after Mohamad Sylla intercepted a pass from a defender and gave the ball to Scott Wilson, he laid it off to Filipe Morais and his attempt on goal was tipped over the bar by Savin.
The visitors nearly found another goal as Kaba Sherif broke clean through on goal, but he couldn’t find the target from a tight angle.
