N Brown Team Of The Week

19 October 2019

The N Brown Group Team Of The Week returns this weekend as Oldham Athletic Community Trust welcome St Matthews Primary School to Boundary Park.

St Matthews School, a proud school partner of OACT, visit Boundary Park this afternoon through their involvement with OACT’s schools programme. The schools programme sees Oldham Athletic coaches deliver regular physical activity sessions within the school on a daily basis. Oldham Athletic Community Trust work with a number of primary schools on a regular basis, ensuring that the football club is represented across the borough through the community work.

St Matthews Primary School

St Matthew’s is a successful two-form entry primary school situated in North Chadderton. Promoting physical activity is a key part of the school’s curriculum and pupils are provided with many opportunities to compete against other schools across a variety of sports. The children have a keen interest in football and the school runs both boys’ and girls’ football teams.

The school has forged a close link with Oldham Athletic, with a sports leader coming into school on a Monday and Tuesday after school. Sessions focus not just on football but a range of sports including tag-rugby, basketball, dodgeball and hockey.

This afternoon we have 12 children, pictured above with Zak Mills and Dylan Fage, playing on the pitch at half time. In addition, there are over 250 children and parents from St Matthews in attendance today to support The Latics. However, today is not a one off as the club has kindly supplied 30 season tickets to the school, which are distributed before each home game giving plenty of children and families the chance to attend a game at some point this season.
