INTERNATIONAL LATICS: Curacao Nations League

11 September 2019

Oldham Athletic winger Gevaro Nepomuceno was in action for Curacao twice in the CONCACAF Nations League this week.

Curacao played against Haiti in a double-header during the opening international break of the season, winning 1-0 in the first game but drawing 1-1 last night.

Nepomuceno played 90 minutes in both games at left-back, providing an assist for Elson Hooi's equaliser in the game yesterday. Goalkeeper Zeus de la Paz was named as an unused substitute for both matches.

Whilst two former Latics players Johny Placide and Duckens Nazon both featured for Haiti in each game.

Curacao top their group which consists of Haiti and Costa Rica. They play the latter in October and November.

The club are also saddened to hear of the passing of Curacao goalkeeper Jarzinho Pieter on Monday, with the team choosing to still play the second fixture in his memory.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends, and especially with Gevaro and Zeus who along with the rest of the squad are coming to terms with this extremely sad news.
