Pre-season Friendlies Ahead of 2020/21 Campaign

14 August 2020

Harry Kewell continues his preparations for the 2020/21 season with four fixture dates over a three week period.

After just two weeks in charge as Head Coach he has added a number of new faces to his squad including Ian Lawlor, Bobby Grant and Davis Keillor-Dunn.

The majority of dates will be classed as training and trialist games, with the final fixture being an opportunity for the club to practice its Covid-19 stage protocol at Boundary Park.

Starting at the weekend, Latics will host Accrington Stanley at Chapel Road training ground in the early afternoon on Saturday 15 August.

Three days later on Tuesday 18 August the club will visit local side Curzon Ashton to take part in two 60-minute games at the Tameside Stadium in the evening (7pm KO).

The following two Saturday's (22nd & 29th) are currently being organised against higher league opposition, with the opponent on the first weekend still to be announced.

The fixture on Saturday 29 August is now against Blackpool FC and will be hosted at Boundary Park (3pm).

Please note, the pre-season fixture at Mossley's Seel Park on Saturday 5 September involving an Oldham Athletic XI is a dedicated Academy fixture.

Post-match reaction will be provided on the club's official channels where and when it is possible to do so.

Unfortunately, minute-by-minute updates throughout the games and match commentary will not be available.

The club are currently working closely with Blackpool and external partners, to look at the possibility of live streaming the fixture. Further details will be communicated closer to the time if successful.

Oldham Athletic would like to make it clear that all fixtures are strictly behind closed doors with spectators not being allowed entry.

Extensive guidelines are in place for the safety of officials and players whilst the events are taking place.

It is important you do not travel or attempt to visit any of the venues over the next few weeks, especially with the increasing threat of a local lockdown.
