The 13th Episode of 'A Trip Down Sheepfoot Lane' Is Out Now!

16 August 2020

On this week's episode of 'A Trip Down Sheepfoot Lane', Roy Butterworth is joined by Latics legend and all-time record appearance holder, Ian Wood.

The right-back, who was originally a centre-forward, made his Latics debut back in the 60s and went onto have a 14-year playing career with the club. Wood is the current record holder for all-time appearances at Oldham, with 525 in the league between 1966–1980, a statistic that is unlikely to be beaten for some time yet.

After his tenure at Boundary Park, the now 72-year-old had numerous spells across the pond in America with Denver Dynamos and San Jose Earthquakes as well as Wichita Wings, who played their matches indoors.

He also had brief spells back in England with Burnley and Radcliffe Borough before hanging up his boots 1983.

We'd like to thank Ian for giving his time up to talk about his Latics memories as a club record holder and legend still to this day.

The videocast has been moved to a Sunday due to the start of the pre-season fixture schedule.
