Zak Dearnley spoke to iFollow Latics after grabbing a goal in the first pre-season fixture.
"I thought it was good, the lads did really well. It's our first game, so we were just staying compact and doing what the Head Coach told us to do in training, so it's gone really well and winning the first-half was enjoyable.
"To be honest, I should've had a few more but it's the first game and I'm getting my legs back into it like the other lads."
He added: "On the goal it's dropped to Rowey and I've made a few runs before that and he knows now I'm going to spin, so he's played it through and obviously I've scored the goal.
"I always like to run in behind and Rowey comes in, gets the ball to feet and turns. He understands me and I understand him, so it's a perfect partnership at the moment.
"We played together in a few games towards the end of last season, so naturally it can only get stronger this time round."
