The Fifth Episode of 'A Trip Down Sheepfoot Lane' Is Out Now!

6 June 2020

As part of the 125 year celebrations, the ‘A Trip Down Sheepfoot Lane’ videocast now takes a closer look at that famous day in 1991 to secure the Second Division Championship.

The fifth episode features two players that know each other very well after good experiences at Latics throughout the 'glory years' as well as reminiscing particularly on that memorable final game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday.

The main guest is Neil Redfearn, he played a major role throughout the 1990/91 season and was the man that kept his cool from the spot to score the all-important winner against Sheffield Wednesday. The midfielder also started in the classic FA Cup semi-final and replay against Manchester United. Overall, he made 74 appearances for the club and is now seen as an experienced manager after spells in charge of teams in the mens, women's and youth levels upon retirement.

Another legend joins in the form of Andy Barlow who talks through his memories at Boundary Park. Born in the town itself, he grew up supporting Latics and came through the youth ranks at the club. Impressively, Barlow went onto make 308 appearances in an eleven-year spell and, during his time, represented Oldham Athletic at the old Wembley Stadium in 1990 against Nottingham Forest in the Littlewoods Cup Final. Now Andy works for the PFA in a regional capacity around elite coaching.

Unfortunately, Ian Liversedge who served the club as physio under Joe Royle couldn't join the group call in the end but also sent his best wishes to everyone.
