A brand new health project is coming to Oldham in April, led by Oldham Athletic Community Trust (OACT).

The project will be based entirely at Boundary Park, featuring both classroom based workshops and physical activity sessions based within the high quality facilities at Glo Gym ensuring participants receive a varied and tailored project.

Start date:
The project commences on Monday 20 April, with an introductory session. The first full session will take place on Monday 4 May.

Time:
10am-12pm weekly.

Cost:
Free of charge.

FIT FANS is a free health programme for men and women aged 35-65 who are looking to lose weight, get fitter and lead a more active life. The 12 week programme is delivered by coaching staff from the local football club at the stadium.  You will meet fans just like you, who want to lose weight. You’ll go behind the scenes at your club, learn about healthy eating and take part is an exercise programme, but don’t worry people often say with FIT FANS they are too busy having fun to realise that they are exercising.

The main aims of the programme are to:

  • Improve your eating habits.
  • Cut down on alcohol.
  • Increase your activity levels – one step at a time!
  • Reduce your weight and waistline.
  • Support each other to stay on track.

FIT FANS has helped 1,000’s of people – football fans like you – to achieve long-term improvements in weight loss, physical activity, diet and general wellbeing.

Martin Vose, OACT Head Of Community, commented: "We are extremely excited to provide this opportunity to the community of Oldham, on a free of charge basis. We believe that fit fans will benefit many many people, leaving a long term positive legacy.

By working with partners such as Glo Gym we are able to offer a high quality project, uniquely based here at Boundary Park."

Simon Blair, Head of Business Development at Glo Gym said: "Reducing inactivity and getting people more active is our primary goal. We all know the benefits of being regularly active with the goal to try and get everyone moving each day and aiming to get 150 minutes of moderate physical activity a week or 30 minutes a day five times a week. Partnerships such as this are vital to our work around improving health, we are delighted to support Oldham Athletic with this initiative.
