A Trip Down Sheepfoot Lane - Stuart Pyke, Jack Dearden & Bob Young

12 May 2020

On this week's episode of 'A Trip Down Sheepfoot Lane', Roy Butterworth will be joined by journalists Stuart Pyke, Jack Dearden and Bob Young.

Stuart Pyke began commentating in 1984 and covered Latics throughout the 'glory years' as the club reached the Littlewoods Cup Final and secured the Second Division title. Pyke is the voice behind the iconic commentary of Neil Redfearn's penalty against Sheffield Wednesday.

Another familiar voice to the Oldham faithful is the Royton based, Jack Dearden who covered life at Boundary Park for BBC Radio Manchester and worked through the final week of the 1992/93 season as Joe Royle's side managed to pull off the great escape against all odds, beating Aston Villa, Liverpool and Southampton.

Whilst, Bob Young spent 13 years writing about Oldham, his spell began during the Jimmy Frizzell era until the start of the Premier League years. He also spent time working for the Oldham Chronicle following life closely at the local club.

If you want to ask Stuart, Jack or Bob something, please email it to natalie.atkinson@oldhamathletic.co.uk. The deadline to submit your questions is Wednesday 13 May at 5pm.

This will be available to watch on the club's YouTube channel (OfficialOAFC) on Saturday at 3pm.
