'Miles for Heroes' Shirt Auction Is Now Live!

9 November 2020

Sponsored by

This weekend, Oldham Military Veteran Football Player, Adam Phillips and his friend Shaun Schofield completed their ‘Miles for Heroes’ challenge to raise money for the Royal British Legion.

Starting at 11am on Saturday 7 November, Adam (Ex-Royal Engineer) and Shaun (Ex-Cheshire Regiment) continually walked for 24 hours with the aim of visiting every borough and their cenotaph/war memorial in the Greater Manchester area, completing a minimum of 75 miles in remembrance of this year being the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

Setting off from Shaw & Crompton Royal British Legion branch, they started their journey by walking to the war memorial opposite the town hall in Oldham. From Oldham they then walked to all the following cenotaphs and war memorials; Rochdale, Bury, Bolton, Wigan, Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Tameside and successfully finishing at St Peters Square in Manchester at 10:30am on Sunday 8 November, 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

To show support for their incredible achievement, Oldham Athletic will be auctioning three match worn, signed shirts from the 3-2 Emirates FA Cup First Round victory over Hampton and Richmond Borough on Remembrance Sunday. All the proceeds will go directly to Adam and Shaun’s fundraiser, which you can also donate direct to by clicking here

The three match worn and signed shirts available to bid for are; Dylan Bahamboula, Harry Clarke and Danny Rowe.

A silent auction process will be used to determine the recipient of each shirt. To place your bid on any of the three shirts, please email enquiries@oact.org.uk including the players name and the price you wish to bid.

The highest bid received for each shirt, by the deadline of 5pm on Friday 13 November, will subsequently win the auction for each item.

Auction winners will be contacted on the week commencing 16th November 2020.

Payment must then be made within three working days, with the cost of P&P added to the total auction bid.

Good luck and thank you for supporting such a worthwhile cause.
