Latics travel to Valley Parade for the second time already this season as they look to progress into the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Harry Kewell’s men will go into the game high on confidence with back-to-back wins in Sky Bet League Two before the important cup clash which is Latics' third consecutive fixture on the road in the space of seven days.
Last time out, a brace from Danny Rowe and goals from Ben Garrity and Conor McAleny saw Latics outscore Barrow in a seven-goal thriller at Holker Street.
Form Guide
Bradford come into the game on the back of a sticky run of form. They have lost their last two league games against Leyton Orient and Salford City without registering a goal.
They have also had a difficult start to the season and have won 13 points from the opening 13 games, a return that puts them in 20th place in the league, three places and four points worse off than Latics.
The Bantams’ last six:
- Leyton Orient 1-0 Bradford City
- Salford City 3-0 Bradford City
- Bradford City 2-2 Exeter City
- Bradford City 1-3 Oldham Athletic (EFL Trophy)
- Tonbridge 0-7 Bradford City (FA Cup)
- Bradford City 3-0 Southend United
Head-to-Head
Meetings: 113
Latics wins: 46
Bradford City wins: 34
Draws: 33
For: 169
Against: 141
Latics have won both of the previous two encounters against Bradford and have won five of the last six games between the two clubs who are the most common opponent for each in recent history.
The last of those was earlier this month when goals from Davis Keilor-Dunn and a late double from Alfie McCalmont ensured that Latics finished their Papa John's Trophy group with maximum points.
Team News
Taking place at Valley Parade behind-closed-doors, Latics will travel across to West Yorkshire once more to play a familiar opponent in front of the cameras.
In terms of selection, Head Coach Harry Kewell has some defensive players returning from injury.
Harry Clarke and Brice Ntambwe are now available for selection.
Zak Dearnley is still getting to full fitness, whilst Andrea Badan remains on the treatment table for a few more weeks due to his hamstring injury, alongside defender Kyle Jameson who is out for over a month with the same treatment.
Watch Out For
Once again, Clayton Donaldson is likely to lead the line for the Bantams.
The 36 year-old joined Bradford City in June 2019 and arrived with an impressive pedigree in the Football League.
The journeyman forward boasts impressive goal scoring records with Crewe Alexandra, Brentford, Birmingham City.
Donaldson has also played for Hull City, Harrogate Town, Scarborough, Halifax Town, York City, Hibernian, Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers.
He also has experience at international level, representing Jamaica 10 times, finding the back of the net two times.
Cup Run
Both sides came into the competition in the first round and have only had to see off one opposition to get to this stage.
Bradford enjoyed a comfortable opening game in the competition as they put seven past Tonbridge Angels without reply to book their place in the hat.
24 hours later, Latics had a more difficult game against Hampton and Richmond but ultimately had too much quality for their non-league opposition and won 3-2.
The game will be played to a conclusion on the day. This means if it is a draw after 90-minutes, extra-time and then penalties, if needed, will decide the winner.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday 28 November with £25,500 of the FA's prize pot going to the victors, the losers receiving £8,500.
FA Cup History
Our opposition have also enjoyed some great days in the FA Cup with one of the most notable wins coming at Stamford Bridge in 2015.
Goals from Gary Cahill and Ramires had given Chelsea a 2-0 lead and had looked to keep their dream of the quadruple alive.
However, a miraculous comeback from the Bantams saw one of the most famous ‘giant-killings’ of recent times.
Veteran striker Jon Stead halved the deficit not long before the break and former Oldham player Filipe Morais restored parity with 75 minutes on the clock.
Andy Halliday put the visitors in front and Mark Yeates wrapped it up in stoppage time to send the 6000 strong following fans away happy and also securing qualification to the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time in 18 years.
In The Dugout
Stuart McCall is the man in the dugout for the hosts after signing a one-year contract extension yesterday.
McCall is currently in his third permanent spell at Valley Parade and has also had a stint as caretaker manager with the club.
The 56 year-old spent the majority of his playing career with Bradford City two across two separate spells.
In addition, his playing career also saw him turn out for Everton, Rangers and Sheffield United as well as representing Scotland 40 times.
McCall has also taken charge of Motherwell, Rangers and Scunthorpe United in his managerial career.
