Last weekend participants from the Oldham Military Veterans Project (OMVP) made the short trip to Rochdale to take part in a military veterans football tournament.
The Oldham Military Veterans Project aims to provide weekly sporting activity for military veterans who are living in and around the Oldham area.
Using football as the tool to engage the project provides a place for participants to meet up and socialise, working to improve both mental and physical wellbeing.
OMVP is unique in the fact that the project is ran in partnership by Oldham Athletic Community Trust and Curzon Ashton Foundation, with both charitable organisations working together to provide additional opportunities for members of the military veterans community.
The military veterans event saw four projects coming together from across the Northwest, each representing their respective club. Present was Oldham Athletic, Curzon Ashton, AFC Fylde and Rochdale AFC.
Oldham's squad featured; Michael Cleasby, Adam Green, Anthony Phillip, Ste Carulli, Dave Thornley and Callum Standring.
The OMVP is currently completely free of charge, with training taking place every Thursday at Broadfield Primary School 3G pitch, 6-7pm. Regardless of playing experience or fitness anyone is welcome to attend the session.
