Oldham Athletic can confirm the signing of versatile player Jordan Barnett on a short-term deal until the end of January 2021 initially.
Barnett has spent pre-season on trial with Latics and has featured in a number of friendly fixtures.
Impressively, he made a noticeable impact by scoring the winning goal with the last kick of the game against Curzon Ashton, a well-hit effort with his left foot on the edge of the area.
A left-back, who can play left-wing or in the centre of midfield, he came through the ranks at Premier League side Burnley before signing for his hometown club Barnsley in July 2018.
The 20-year-old has spent the past few years in the Yorkshire club’s U23 setup and has showed plenty of promise before his departure from Oakwell this summer.
He also knows Zak Dearnley as the pair are products of Penistone Church who have given a number of players the platform to become professional footballers.
On joining his new club, Jordan said; "It feels brilliant to be here and everybody has made me feel welcome.
"I'm a left-back or left-winger mainly and like to attack. I've had a good few weeks with the lads already and I'm now looking forward to helping the team at the start of the season."
Barnett’s official shirt number will be announced later this week along with the rest of the squad.
Welcome to Latics, Jordan!
