Accrington overcame fellow third division side Rotherham United away from home with Dion Charles and Colby Bishop on the scoreline in a 2-1 victory.

Latics have been unsuccessful in each of the previous three meetings with Stanley in their current format, with plenty of history between the two sides going way back.
The last time they met was in the Papa John's Trophy in 2019, Accrington ran out 3-0 winners at Boundary Park.

Dion Charles will be looking to maintain his scoring record in this year’s league cup.
The 25-year-old forward netted the opener in their first round success over Rotherham United and his goals in recent seasons have earned him some high praise.
Charles began his youth career with Blackpool, but he had to delve into the non-league to get his first taste of senior football.
He played games for AFC Fylde, Skelmersdale United, Halifax Town and Southport before winning a deal with Accrington Stanley in 2019.
Following a solid first season with Stanley that saw him score nine in all competitions, he really found his feet last season, netting an impressive 21 goals.
His form has been so good that he has found himself called up to the Northern Ireland national team, an impressive feat for the striker.
In The Dugout
John Coleman is the man in the dugout for the visitors.
Stanley legend Coleman is currently enjoying his second spell with the club.
In his first spell at the Wham Stadium, Coleman oversaw an incredible three promotions that led Stanley to the Football League in 2006.
In the middle of his two spells, he managed Rochdale, Southport and Sligo Rovers before re-joining in September 2014.

The man in the middle is Sebastian Stockbridge.
His last fixture in charge of Latics arrived in May 2021 as we lost 3-0 on the last day of the season against Forest Green Rovers at Boundary Park and he handed out two yellow cards.
