New Latics arrivals Hallam Hope and Jayson Leutwiler are expected to represent their countries this month in Gold Cup matches.
Hope, who plays for his father’s nation Barbados, will face Bermuda in a first preliminary play-off this Saturday (3 July) after being called back up for the Caribbean island shortly after signing for the club.
If the Bajan Tridents were to beat Bermuda, they would face either Haiti or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines next Tuesday (6 July) for one of the final group stage places.
Whilst Leutwiler has been named in Canada’s squad as part of their three goalkeeping options later in July for the group stage against Martinique (11 July), USA (18 July) and another nation which is to be confirmed.
Interestingly, if Barbados win both qualifying knockout ties in quick succession in Florida they will qualify in the same group as Canada for the CONCACAF competition which is taking place in the United States.
