Latics are looking to make it back-to-back Sky Bet League Two victories when they travel to Northampton Town for a midweek clash (7:45pm KO).
A dramatic comeback saw Keith Curle pick up a vital three points against promotion hopefuls Port Vale at the weekend that will hopefully start to see a change in fortunes.
Former Oldham man David Worrall gave the Valiants the lead in the 20th minute, but Davis Keillor-Dunn levelled 11 minutes later to ensure the sides went in level.
The visitors retook the lead via James Gibbons but a late equaliser from Sam Hart and even later own goal won the game for Latics.
Form Guide
Promotion contenders Northampton Town have endured a bit of a dip off in form over the last few weeks.
Town are winless in their last five in all competitions, losing three and drawing two.
It is worth noting that this run includes games in both the Emirates FA Cup and the Papa John’s Trophy and in the league, they have lost just one of their previous six games.
Prior to the recent dip in form, they had won four on the trot, impressively not conceding in the process. They will be hoping to see a return to that when they welcome Latics.
The Cobblers’ Last Six:
- Bradford City 1-1 Northampton Town
- Cambridge United 3-1 Northampton Town (FA Cup 1st round replay)
- Bristol Rovers 2-1 Northampton Town
- Northampton Town 2-2 Cambridge United (FA Cup 1st round)
- Northampton Town 1-2 Brighton and Hove Albion Under 21s (Papa John’s Trophy)
- Northampton Town 3-0 Carlisle United

The last time that the two clubs met was in November 2019.
The game finished 2-2 at Boundary Park, with Oldham pulling off an impressive late come back to claim a point in Sky Bet League Two.
Town took the lead in the sixth minute through Matty Warburton and doubled their advantage with just 10 minutes left on the clock courtesy of Andy Williams.
Scott Wilson halved the deficit five minutes later and Jonny Smith restored parity in the 89th minute.
The last time that Latics beat the Cobblers came in December 2017. The scoreline was a comfortable 5-1 with a Jack Byrne brace and strikes from Tope Obadeyi, Gevaro Nepomuceno and Craig Davies ensuring victory at Boundary Park.
Watch Out For
Sam Hoskins has five league goals to his name, so far, this season.
The Doncaster-born forward has been a mainstay in the Town squad since his 2015 signing, with him going on to make over 200 appearances for the Cobblers.
The 28-year-old began his footballing career with Southampton but never really made much of an impact at St. Marys and he was shipped out on loan to Preston North End, Rotherham United and Stevenage during his time with the club.
His first permanent move saw him join Yeovil Town, he had a brief time on loan at Barnet whilst a Yeovil player and he joined current club Northampton following the end of his contract.
Familiar faces
Latics fans will remember Joseph Mills.
Mills, 32, has had two separate spells as an Oldham player during his career. The first came in 2013, when he was signed on an initial one-month loan deal. This was later extended, and he made 11 appearances in his first spell at Boundary Park.
In the summer of 2014, Mills joined Oldham on a permanent deal and he spent two seasons with the club before leaving for Perth Glory.
He joined the Cobblers in August 2020. Unfortunately, he suffered a fractured ankle early in this season and has been injured since.
There are also a few names in the Oldham setup that have enjoyed spells with the Northampton.
Firstly, Head Coach Keith Curle had a successful spell as manager at Sixfields as he led them to promotion to the third tier with a win in the 2020 play-off final.
Another part of that promotion winning team was current Latics player Nicky Adams.
Adams has had two spells with Northampton Town, making over 100 appearances for the club in all competitions.
In The Dugout
Jon Brady is the man in the dugout for the hosts.
Born in Newcastle, Australia, Brady has been a part of the setup at Northampton Town since 2016 and he has performed a number of roles during his time at the club.
He has been boss since February 2021 when he replaced the current Oldham Head Coach.
Brady was unable to prevent their relegation back to the fourth tier but was handed the job on a permanent basis in May 2021.
His other previous managerial experience came with Brackley Town.
