Oldham Athletic can confirm that Will Sutton’s loan at Witton Albion has been extended for a further month.
The 18-year-old has impressed the backroom staff and supporters at Wincham Park, starting on a regular basis by playing 16 times and scoring once for the Albion since joining at the start of the season.
Sutton, a promising central-defender, has illustrated several improvements to his skillset as well as implementing positive maturity whilst at the Northwich-based side on a temporary basis.
On his loan so far, and going into his third month, Sutton believes that he’s making encouraging development and discussed his targets going forwards for Witton, saying; "It’s been really good, and it's been ideal to be in that men's football environment, playing games consistently because that's what I needed at the end of the day and was the whole point of the loan.
"I'm really happy with how it’s going for me personally and it's been sort of a perfect loan because I've been brought in to do a lot of defending and I’ve learnt a lot about positioning in my own box, so I can already see massive improvements."
Adding: "It has been a huge learning curve for myself because I didn't really know what to expect at that sort of level. I’ve learnt a lot about myself and where I am in terms of progression, I want to keep developing my game."
"They’ve extended my loan again and until recently we had a good run with back-to-back clean sheets after a tough start to the campaign. We're starting to get that consistency and I'd like to try and keep that up as long as possible. In terms of individually, I would like to get my numbers up with being a threat in both boxes and adding more goals."
