Sheridan Agrees New Contract

28 April 2022

Oldham Athletic are delighted to confirm that John Sheridan has agreed to stay at the club keeping him as Manager until the summer of 2023.

Despite the huge disappointment of relegation, ‘Shez’ returned in January to give the club a real fighting chance and after a few days of reflection, he is more determined than ever to build a squad for the National League with the aim of an immediate return.

On the announcement and agreeing to stay, Sheridan said; “I’m still hurting like all of the supporters and gutted it didn’t end the way we wanted to, but everyone knows my love for this club and I want to be that person to make sure we have a really good chance next season to compete properly at the right end of the table.

“I’ve not taken this decision lightly and know it’ll be a tough period coming up but I’ll make sure those representing the club on the pitch have the fight, determination and character so we can hit the ground running.

“The passion from the fanbase since I returned is a big factor in this and I want to repay the faith shown during these past few months. As always keep the faith and I’ll see you again soon.”

Work is already underway for next season in terms of recruitment, pre-season and other off-field first-team matters with updates to follow when it is possible.
