Oldham Athletic are proud to release details from the first EFL Family Excellence assessment, which was conducted at the start of October 2021.
From the visit Latics received a score of 8/10, significantly improving on the previous result received in 2019/20 of just five. The assessment review left Oldham Athletic as the 4th highest-ranked team in Sky Bet League Two and 23rd in the overall 72 EFL clubs.
The EFL’s Family Excellence Scheme was launched during the 2006/07 season to reward Clubs in their efforts to deliver an outstanding match-day family experience. The scheme revolves around ‘mystery fan’ visits made to all EFL Clubs each season, with assessors and family groups reporting back on their experiences across a range of touchpoints.
Assessments and the feedback they produce help foster a commitment to continuous improvement, and the scheme has seen Clubs set benchmark standards in providing such things as family fun zones, family-oriented concourse entertainment, matchday activity schedules, creative catering options, interaction with Club mascots, players and enthusiastic family-friendly Club staff.
These visits, and the positive changes made, as a result, go towards determining whether Clubs are awarded Family Excellence status each season, a desirable and important endorsement to further promote the matchday experiences they offer to new and existing families and their wider fanbases.
Martin Vose, the Head of Community at Oldham Athletic Community Trust, commented: "Working alongside the football club we are committed to providing an enjoyable and inclusive family experience for everyone that visits Boundary Park.
"We are incredibly proud of the first score received, with the renovation works that have been completed within the OACT Family Stand and the introduction of matchday packs we have made great strides following the return of fans to stadia."
