Latics Partner With Her Game Too

8 February 2022

Oldham Athletic are thrilled to reaffirm its commitment to Her Game Too ahead of the upcoming fixture against Bristol Rovers.

In May 2021, Her Game Too was founded by a group of female football supporters in order to tackle ongoing issues’ concerning sexism within football. They aim to address several prevalent topics to ensure that women can enjoy backing their team on a matchday, in the pub as well as every other setting.

The group launched a powerful message via a video that populated around social media platforms with the hashtag #HerGameToo, gaining over one million views, and was also showcased at Wembley for the Emirates FA Cup.

With two of the founders of Her Game Too, Caz and Lucy being avid Gas fans it was always the fixture the club was looking to showcase its support further and more publicly.

Additionally, the Her Game Too logo will now become more present across the official channels as well as appearing on the advertising boards at Boundary Park for the remainder of the campaign, as the club endeavours for change to further reinforce that sexist abuse or harassment will not be tolerated at Oldham Athletic or across football anymore.

The partnership with Her Game Too also means that both parties will now be reaching out to female Latics fans as a support network and looking for ambassadors to assess and enhance the matchday experience that the club can offer to become more inclusive in the future.

Safeguarding & Supporter Services Manager, Pamela Makin believes that the partnership with Her Game Too will be massively beneficial for the club and the community; "I'm delighted that we've established a relationship with Her Game Too, their values and beliefs align with the club's viewpoint surrounding female supporters.

"We've had a few reported incidents throughout the season, so we've been in dialogue with the group in order to help prevent such situations from occurring again, and we're striving to maintain a welcoming atmosphere at every match."

Her Game Too can be found on Twitter & Instagram with the handle @HerGameToo, and are also on Facebook as 'Her Game Too'.

They can also be contacted directly via their website, www.hergametoo.co.uk
