Shot-Stopper Signs For Latics

1 July 2022

Oldham Athletic are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Magnus Norman from Carlisle United.

The 6’4’’ shot-stopper, who has also been capped by England at U18 level, joins Latics on a one-year contract after leaving Brunton Park earlier this summer.

Norman, 25, who progressed through the youth set-up at Fulham, featured ten times for Carlisle last season after two years in Cumbria.

Manager John Sheridan said: “Magnus is a very good goalkeeper who will make sure we have competition in that position this season.

“He has impressed when playing for Carlisle, he is a mature goalkeeper and has a good amount of experience at a number of levels.

“He’s got a great stature, is a very commanding presence and I believe we will see him do well in an Oldham shirt.”

On the books at Fulham from the age of eight, Norman spent a total of 14 years at Craven Cottage, progressing through their academy to sign a professional contract in 2014.

Whilst still a youngster, he had loans in non-league with Hayes and Southport before spending half of the 2018/19 season at Rochdale.

Norman left Fulham in the summer of 2020, securing a move to Carlisle, where he declined the offer of an extension at the end of last season.

Player sponsorships for the 2022/23 season are now available, priced at £250+VAT with home and away packages on offer. To sponsor Magnus, email commercial@oldhamathletic.co.uk.

Welcome to Latics, Magnus!
