Young Prospect Moves To Boundary Park

20 June 2022

Versatile youngster Jordan Windass has secured a move to Oldham Athletic on a two-year contract.

The right-sided prospect, 22, who has spent the last two seasons with Bradford Park Avenue, is the youngest son of former Latics striker Dean and brother of current Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Josh.

Windass, who can play on the right side of the back-line or midfield, has progressed with a number of non-league clubs in the Yorkshire area during recent years.

Manager John Sheridan said: “Jordan is a player who I have been aware of for a while, he will add good competition to the squad and is very much a player we are looking to develop.

“He’s got an excellent attitude to the game, great ability and I believe he’s got the potential to really kick on this season.

“We need to build a squad with competition in every area and recruit players who are hungry to progress themselves. Being a versatile player with a genuine appetite for the game, I’m sure we will see Jordan develop into a very good player.”

Windass, whose highlight of last season was a 35-yard rocket of a goal he struck against Boston United, has also featured earlier in his career for Gainsborough Trinity and North Ferriby.

Windass’ move to Boundary Park adds competition to the squad whilst also giving the youngster the opportunity to develop in his career.

Windass said: “This is a very big opportunity for me and I’m really happy to be at a club of this size. I spoke to the manager a few weeks ago, he gave me some good insight into what he wants to achieve and I’m looking forward to a new challenge.

“I’m a player with good technique, I like to cross the ball, I enjoy beating players and I’ve got good versatility.

“This is a big step for me personally but I’m confident I can fit into the team and I’m determined to make the most of the chance.”

The move is subject to the relevant FA and league approval. Squad numbers will be announced at a later date.
