Latics Continue Support For Maggie's

25 March 2022

Recently the Oldham Athletic first team squad pledged their support to Ibby, who is raising funds for Maggie's!

Following on from this, Oldham Athletic Community Trust (OACT) is excited to continue to support Ibby, through the new initiative with Supported Giving.

From today, until the 18th of April 2022, 50% of all funds donated to OACT will be gifted to Maggie's Oldham.

You can donate to OACT via their supported giving page by scanning the QR code below or click the link here.

You will also find the OACT QR code around Boundary Park on matchdays.

The Oldham Athletic vs. Leyton Orient game on Tuesday 29 March will be a dedicated fixture to Maggie’s Oldham with the Latics squad wearing Maggie's t-shirts during the warm-up to raise awareness for the great work they do in supporting those with cancer, whilst staff at the organisation will be invited to the fixture to celebrate their amazing work.

Maggie's centres provide emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Built on the grounds of NHS hospitals with brilliant architectural work but run by an independent charity, Maggie’s work in partnership with the NHS. In Oldham, the specialist staff offer one-to-one advice as well as group sessions, workshops and courses aimed at helping to address the physical and psychological impact of living with cancer. All the support the Centre offers is free.

Situated at the side of the Royal Oldham Hospital, the Oldham centre is a rectangular wooden building with a glass roof, near A&E and opposite the Victoria building, overlooking Sheepfoot Lane and Boundary Park at the top of the road.

Ibby who is leading the original fundraiser said; "Many of my friends & Twitter followers (@sugs75) have been amazing in supporting all my charity campaigns.

"I enjoy helping our local charities, it is a real passion of mine. Maggie’s Oldham was the first Oldham charity I helped nearly four years ago so I am truly grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey so far. I hope Latics fans get behind this fundraiser and help support Maggie’s with me!"

With Trish Morgan, Centre Head at Maggie’s Oldham saying; "We are delighted that Oldham Athletic Community Trust is getting behind Ibby’s challenge and we are so grateful to both for supporting Maggie’s Oldham. Every penny raised will help us to be here for people with cancer and their loved ones at a time when they need us most."
